Background
The aim of this report is to present the results of a prospective study of quality of life (QoL) in the early peri-treatment period of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

Material and Methods
A total of 151 patients, average age 64 years (44–89), underwent treatment according to tumour staging. To monitor QoL, we used a questionnaire SF 36/2 before treatment and 3 months thereafter.

Result
The exploration and radical resection patients were with similar baseline QoL (61.8 ± 16.9 vs. 62.8 ± 15.6). Patients indicated for biliodigestive anastomosis QoL was significantly higher than in patients indicated for endoscopic stent (54.9 ± 18.8 vs. 30.0 ± 7.1, p < 0.001). All patients observed after 3 months, , showed a significant reduction in QoL with the exception of the Stent group. Input value of QoL in patients in whom exploration was performed, was not significantly different from the value of QoL after 3 months. Bleeding, abdominal abscess, biliary or pancreatic fistula or wound infection did not result in significant impairment of QoL after 3 months of treatment.. Bleeding, abdominal abscess, biliary or pancreatic fistula or wound infection did not result in significant impairment of QoL after 3 months of treatment.

Conclusion
Quality of life of patients with pancreatic carcinoma is sensitive to the stage and to type of the treatment. Results of our study may affect the determination of optimal treatment of the patients
with CP.
